Sleep Starts
Sacha Kanah

Clima is pleased to present ‘Sleep Starts’ the first solo presentation at the gallery by Italian artist Sacha Kanah (b. 1981, Milan, IT)

Sleep starts concerns an investigation on the ways organic matter can occupy space as it comes together to outline a living organism.

The works on display are holes made in water. They are presented at the height of their growth process as a series of transparent, weightless sculptures formed by a kelp membrane.

Their structure as well as their density has been decided exclusively by the physical and chemical condi- tions of the environment in which they were born; water, understood as a formal archive, is used to gene- rate embryos of bodies and apparatus.

Opening reception Thursday, June 20th 2024

at Clima, Via Lazzaro Palazzi 3, 20124 Milano

The work rotates around spatial and material relationships to language, through sculptures and installations. Forms materialize in response to the premises of a given medium and contextual conditions, offering open dialogue. Interactions and co-evolutions are related to corporeal life and material phenomena, including the inorganic world, technologies, and nonhuman organisms and processes.
